SCC to host community Learn and Explore Event: Diving into a new pilot program

Somerset, KY– Somerset Community College (SCC) invites students, families, and community members to attend an upcoming Fixed Wing Pilot Community Learn and Explore Event on June 23, 2026, from 5:00–6:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Lake Cumberland Regional Airport Terminal.

The forum will spotlight SCC’s Fixed Wing Pilot Program, offering attendees the opportunity to learn more about training options, program benefits, and career pathways in aviation that start as early as August.

“This event is a great opportunity for anyone interested in obtaining a private pilot license to explore how they can turn their passion into a career,” SCC Dean of Career & Technical Education, Chris Hall, shared. “We are excited to continue expanding access to high-demand pilot training in our region.”

Participants will have the chance to connect with program representatives, ask questions, and gain insight into what to expect from upcoming coursework and flight training opportunities.

A new class for the Fixed Wing Pilot Program is scheduled to begin on August 17, giving prospective students time to enroll and prepare for the next step in their aviation journey.

SCC’s fixed wing pilot training is offered in partnership with Madisonville Community College, combining resources to provide accessible, industry-aligned instruction close to home.
