Somerset, KY – Somerset Community College (SCC) held its 2024 Spring commencement on Friday, May 3rd, with the close friends and family of 291 graduates gathered at the Center for Rural Development to celebrate this momentous accomplishment for their loved ones.
The event was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of the students who have successfully completed their educational journey at SCC. SCC President and CEO, Dr. Carey Castle, awarded graduates with 445 various degrees, 1,487 certificates and 214 diplomas to the SCC Spring Class of 2024. This significant increase in graduates, credentials and certificates compared to the Spring of 2023 commencement showcased a growing desire for a higher education in our region.
The graduates come from a diverse range of backgrounds and have different stories to tell, but they all share a common goal: to improve their lives and their communities through education. Their achievements are a testament to the quality of education provided by SCC and the dedication of its faculty and staff.
As Dr. Castle said in his speech, “You are the future of our community, and we are proud to have played a part in your journey. Your education will prepare you for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, and we have no doubt that you will make a positive impact in the world.”
The SCC Spring Class of 2024 has worked tirelessly to achieve their goals, and they deserve to be celebrated for their accomplishments. We congratulate them on their success and wish them all the best for their future endeavors.
