Weekend Wrap-Up: Monday, November 13th

In Friday night’s high school football action, the Somerset Briar Jumpers dominated the Leslie Co. Eagles with a 57-0 shutout, securing their place in the next round of the Class 2A playoffs. In Class 5A, the Southwestern Warriors defeated the Pulaski Co. Maroons 41-13, bringing an end to PC’s season at 4-8.

This Friday, the Class 2A matchup features the Shelby Valley Wildcats (9-3) against the Somerset Briar Jumpers (9-3), with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. Live coverage will be available on Somerset 106.1 FM & Somerset106.com. In Class 5A, the Cooper Jaguars (10-2) will face the Southwestern Warriors (9-3), with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday in college basketball, Antonio Reeves led the Kentucky Wildcats to an 81-61 victory over Texas A&M-Commerce at Rupp Arena, scoring 21 points. Looking ahead, the Wildcats will take on the Kansas Jayhawks at the United Center in Chicago in the Champions Classic this Tuesday, with tipoff at 9:30 p.m. on ESPN.

In Saturday’s college football action, the Kentucky Wildcats faced a tough 49-21 home loss to the No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide. This Saturday, Kentucky (6-4/3-4 SEC) will play the South Carolina Gamecocks (5-5/2-5 SEC), with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. on SEC Network.

The WKU Hilltoppers had a 38-29 loss at home to the New Mexico State Aggies, despite QB Austin Reed’s impressive performance with 270 yards and three touchdowns. In Sunday’s NFL action, the Cincinnati Bengals rallied from 10 points down in the fourth quarter, but the Houston Texans kicked a field goal as time expired to win 30-27. In Sunday Night NFL, the Las Vegas Raiders secured a 16-12 victory over the New York Jets.

Monday night NFL features the Denver Broncos (3-5) at Buffalo Bills (5-4) with an 8:15 p.m. kickoff on ABC/ESPN.
