Over the weekend, high school baseball and softball games took place, with various teams competing and securing wins. In baseball, Garrard Co. defeated Southwestern with a score of 7-3, while Whitley County emerged victorious with a 13-3 win over Pulaski County in 6 innings. On the softball front, Somerset Lady Briar Jumpers secured an 8-1 victory against Wayne County, but faced a defeat at the hands of Madison Southern, who won 11-1 in 6 innings. East Jessamine claimed a 9-4 victory over Southwestern Lady Warriors.
In Major League Baseball, the Cincinnati Reds faced the Washington Nationals in a two-game series. On Saturday, the Nationals edged out the Reds with a score of 7-6, despite notable performances by Luke Maile and Jeimer Candelario who homered for Cincinnati. However, the Reds bounced back on Sunday, clinching a thrilling 6-5 victory against the Nationals.
