This fall, Broadway gets a high-voltage infusion of star power with the first-ever revival of Art, Yasmina Reza’s acclaimed Tony Award-winning play. Set to begin previews on August 28 at the Music Box Theatre, the production boasts a powerhouse trio: Bobby Cannavale, James Corden, and Neil Patrick Harris.
Directed by Tony nominee Scott Ellis, the revival will open officially on September 16 and run for a limited 17-week engagement through December 21.
Art, translated by Christopher Hampton, is a sharp, witty examination of friendship, ego, and the meaning of—well—art. The plot kicks off when Serge (Harris) buys an all-white painting for an exorbitant sum, sparking a hilariously tense debate among his friends Marc (Cannavale) and Yvan (Corden).
The original 1998 Broadway production starred Alan Alda, Victor Garber, and Alfred Molina. Now, with this high-profile cast and a celebrated director, Art is poised for a new generation of theatergoers.
“This is a dream team,” said producer Michael Shulman. “It’s a play about perspective, and these three actors bring entirely different—and thrilling—lenses to the stage.”
Whether you’re in it for the laughs, the existential questions, or the sheer star wattage, Art promises to be one of Broadway’s must-see events of the year.
