In the upcoming Amazon Prime Video thriller G20, Viola Davis portrays U.S. President Danielle Sutton, a leader who must protect her family and fellow world leaders during a terrorist attack at a G20 summit in Cape Town, South Africa. The film is set to premiere on April 10, 2025.

Davis drew inspiration for her role from Teresa Graves’ portrayal of an undercover detective in the 1974 series Get Christie Love!. Recalling Graves’ performance, Davis said, “Whenever she would arrest someone, she was like ‘You’re under arrest, baby!'” She added, “When you see it, you can believe it. When you see it, you can see yourself in it.”

The film also features Anthony Anderson as First Gentleman Derek Sutton, Marsai Martin as their daughter Serena, and Christopher Farrar as their son Demetrius. Davis specifically requested Anderson for the role due to their longstanding friendship. Reflecting on her journey, Davis noted that her younger self would be proud of her accomplishments, stating, “My job is to make her squeal… to make her really excited about who she’s going to … .”
