UK Athletic Director Mitch Barnhart has confirmed that John Calipari will continue as the head coach for the Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team for the upcoming season. Calipari boasts an impressive record of 410-122 in his 15 seasons at Kentucky, including six SEC regular-season and tournament championships, three Final Four appearances, and the 2012 NCAA National Championship. Despite recent struggles in the SEC and NCAA Tournaments, with a 1-5 record since 2019, Calipari’s leadership remains pivotal for the Wildcats.
Women’s College Basketball:
The University of Kentucky has appointed Kenny Brooks as the new head coach for the Wildcats women’s basketball team. Brooks arrives with an impressive coaching resume, having led Virginia Tech’s women’s team to four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, one Final Four, and 180 wins in eight seasons.
His successful tenure at Virginia Tech included an ACC Tournament championship in 2024 and a 31-win season in 2022-2023, resulting in a Final Four appearance. Prior to Virginia Tech, Brooks spent 14 seasons as head coach at James Madison, amassing a 337-122 record and leading the team to five Colonial Athletic Association Tournament titles and four CAA regular-season titles.
