In Kentucky basketball news, Coach John Calipari has officially stepped down as the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats, stating that he feels the program needs another voice. Calipari leaves behind a remarkable legacy after spending 15 seasons at UK, where he compiled a record of 410-122. During his tenure, the Wildcats claimed six SEC regular-season championships and six SEC Tournament championships, with four Final Four appearances and one National Championship in 2012. Calipari’s overall coaching record stands at an impressive 855-262. This season, the Wildcats finished with a record of 23-10 overall and 13-5 in the SEC. Calipari also coached 35 Kentucky players who earned All-SEC first or second team selections. A nationwide search is currently underway for a new coach at Kentucky.
Additionally, UK freshman Rob Dillingham has declared for the NBA Draft and will forego his college eligibility. Dillingham, who averaged 15.2 points and 3.9 assists per game while shooting 44% from three-point range, is projected as a Lottery Pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.
