On Monday, in high school basketball, the Somerset Lady Briar Jumpers faced a tough loss against Rockcastle Co. with a score of 67-25, bringing their season to a close at 7-22. Meanwhile, the Pulaski Co. Lady Maroons secured a victory against Casey Co. with a score of 73-46. Looking ahead to Wednesday, the Girls 47th District championship game will feature Pulaski County Lady Maroons against Rockcastle County Lady Rockets.

In the Girls 48th District tournament at Southwestern High School, the Wayne County Lady Cardinals defeated McCreary Central with a score of 54-29. The 48th District championship game is set for Thursday, with the Southwestern Lady Warriors facing off against the Wayne Co. Lady Cardinals.

Turning to high school boys’ basketball, the 47th District tournament at Rockcastle Co. High School will see the Somerset Briar Jumpers taking on Casey Co. Rebels, followed by Pulaski Co. Maroons against Rockcastle Co. Rockets. Additionally, the Boys 48th District Tournament at Southwestern High School will feature Wayne Co. Cardinals against Somerset Christian School Cougars and Southwestern Warriors against McCreary Central Raiders.

In MLB Cactus League action on Monday, the Cincinnati Reds faced split squad games, losing 2-0 against the Seattle Mariners and winning 8-3 against the Milwaukee Brewers. On Tuesday, the Reds will play against the Chicago Cubs in Mesa, AZ, with live coverage on WTLO AM 1480/97.7 FM.

In college basketball news, Kentucky’s Justin Edwards has been named the Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the week following his stellar performance in the team’s victory over Alabama. The No. 16 Kentucky Wildcats will face the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Tuesday, while on Wednesday, the WKU Hilltoppers will take on Louisianna Tech at Diddle Arena in Bowling Green. Additionally, on Thursday, the Kentucky Wildcats women’s team will play against the Ole Miss Rebels at Rupp Arena.
