In high school baseball action, Southwestern secured an 8-5 victory over Danville. Meanwhile, in Major League Baseball, Spencer Steer’s grand slam home run in the top of the tenth inning propelled the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-3 win over the Phillies in the opener of their three-game series in Philadelphia. Game two of the series will feature RHP Graham Ashcraft making his first start of the season for Cincinnati on Tuesday, with live coverage beginning at 6:10 pm and first pitch at 6:40 pm on WTLO AM 1480/97.7 FM.

In college basketball news, Steve Lutz has resigned as head coach of the Western Kentucky University Hilltoppers after just one season, to accept the same job at Oklahoma State Cowboys. Lutz guided the Toppers to a 22-12 overall record, a CUSA Tournament championship, and an NCAA Tournament appearance. A national search is currently underway for his successor.

In women’s college basketball, Iowa’s Caitlin Clark delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 44 points, 12 assists, and seven rebounds in the Hawkeyes’ 94-87 victory over defending national champions LSU in the Elite Eight. The Women’s Final Four matchups are set for Friday, featuring South Carolina vs North Carolina State at 7:00 pm and Iowa vs UConn at 9:00 pm.

As for NCAA College Basketball Men’s Final Four, on Saturday, the North Carolina State Wolfpack (27-14) will face the Purdue Boilermakers (34-4) at 6:09 pm, followed by the Alabama Crimson Tide (25-11) taking on the UConn Huskies (35-3) at 8:49 pm. Both games will be broadcast live on TBS. The Championship Game is scheduled for Monday, April 8 at 9:20 pm in Glendale, Arizona.
