Thursday High School Soccer:

  • Girls: Lincoln County defeated Pulaski County Lady Maroons 6-0.
  • Boys: Somerset dominated Corbin 8-0, while Pulaski County secured a 3-1 victory over Taylor County.

Friday MLB:

The Cincinnati Reds (60-61, 2nd in NL Central) host the Kansas City Royals (66-55, 3rd in AL Central) for a three-game interleague series at Great American Ball Park. RHP Nick Martinez (6-5, 3.16 ERA) is set to start for Cincinnati, while former Red RHP Michael Lorenzen (5-6, 3.79 ERA) takes the mound for Kansas City. College Football:

  • Kentucky Wildcats: Junior quarterback Brock Vandagriff has been named to the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list. This award recognizes the top senior or upperclassman quarterback expected to graduate. Vandagriff, standing at 6’3″ and 213 lbs., is entering his first season with UK after transferring from the University of Georgia. Over two seasons with the Bulldogs, he appeared in 13 games, completing 12 of 21 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns, along with rushing for 46 yards on six carries. The Wildcats open the 2024 season on August 31st at Kroger Field in Lexington against Southern Miss, with kickoff at 7:45 PM.
  • WKU Hilltoppers: Quarterback TJ Finley has also been named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm watch list. Last season at Texas State, Finley threw for 3,439 yards and 24 touchdowns, with just eight interceptions. He also rushed for 81 yards and five touchdowns. The Hilltoppers begin their season on Saturday, August 31st, in Tuscaloosa against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM ET. Saturday NFL:

The Cincinnati Bengals (0-1) face the Chicago Bears (1-0) in their second preseason game. Cincinnati is looking to bounce back after a 17-14 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while Chicago is coming off a 33-6 win over the Buffalo Bills.
