College Football:
UK football’s wide receiver/return specialist Barion Brown and defensive tackle Deone Walker have been named to the Sporting News and USA Today Preseason All-America Teams. Brown earned first-team honors from the Sporting News and second-team recognition from USA Today, while Walker was named to the first team by ESPN. Last season, Brown led the nation with three kickoff return touchdowns, accumulating 576 yards on 16 returns. He has also caught a pass in every game of his college career, totaling 26 games. Walker, a 6’6″, 348 lbs. defensive lineman, led UK with 12.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and 8 quarterback hurries, earning First Team ALL-SEC honors among many postseason awards. The Wildcats will kick off the 2024 season on Saturday, August 31st, at Kroger Field in Lexington against Southern Miss, with kickoff set for 7:45 PM.
The University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame has announced its 2024 class, which includes football standout Corey Peters (2006-2009), basketball star Jodie Meeks (2007-2009), and four-time Olympic gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (women’s track and field, 2018). The induction ceremony will take place during Hall of Fame Weekend, September 20-21.
Saturday NFL Preview:
