Sports Update: Wednesday, January 31st

In Tuesday’s high school basketball matchups, McCreary Central secured a narrow victory over Somerset with a score of 58-55 in the boys’ game. Meanwhile, West Jessamine dominated the court with a 73-47 win against the Somerset Lady Briar Jumpers in girls’ basketball. The Southwestern Lady Warriors exhibited a strong performance, defeating McCreary Central convincingly with a score of 63-23.

Moving on to Wednesday’s college basketball action, the No. 10 Kentucky Wildcats (15-4/5-2 SEC) faced off against the Florida Gators (14-6/4-3 SEC) at 8 pm. Kentucky had previously opened SEC play with an 87-85 victory over Florida on January 6th in Gainesville.

Thursday featured both women’s and men’s college basketball games. The Mississippi State Bulldogs (16-5/3-3 SEC) played against the Kentucky Wildcats (9-12/2-5 SEC) at Rupp Arena, with a 7 pm tipoff on ESPN Plus. In men’s basketball, the WKU Hilltoppers (14-6/3-3 CUSA) went head-to-head against the Sam Houston State Bearkats (12-9/5-1 CUSA). The Hilltoppers, having previously suffered a 78-74 loss to the Bearkats in Huntsville, TX, aimed for redemption. The game tipped off at 9 pm ET, with live coverage starting at 8:30 pm on WTLO AM 1480/97.7 FM and airing nationally on CBS Sports Network.

Transitioning to Friday’s high school basketball broadcasts, Somerset Lady Briar Jumpers faced the Southwestern Lady Warriors at 6 pm. This was followed by the boys’ game between Somerset and Southwestern at approximately 7:45 pm. Both games were broadcasted live on Somerset 106.1 FM & Somerset106.com.
