In college football news, Beau Allen is making a return to the University of Kentucky football program. Allen, a 3-Star recruit in the Class of 2020 and former backup to Will Levis, played in five games for UK before transferring to Tarleton State and then to Georgia Southern. Now back at Kentucky, he will join recent Georgia Bulldogs transfer QB Brock Vandagriff and two others in the competition for the starting QB position in 2024. The Kentucky Wildcats (7-5) are set to play in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on Friday, December 29th, against the Clemson Tigers (8-4) with kickoff at noon on ESPN.
In high school basketball action on Tuesday, the Casey Co. Lady Rebels (2-2) faced the Somerset Lady Briar Jumpers (0-4), with a tipoff at 6 p.m. The boys’ teams of Casey Co. (2-3) and Somerset Briar Jumpers (4-1) played with a tipoff around 7:45 p.m. Both games were broadcast live on Somerset 106.1 FM & Somerset106.com.
In college basketball on Tuesday, the WKU Hilltoppers (7-3) took on the Wright State Raiders (4-5). WKU led the all-time series 2-1 and won the last meeting 64-60 in December the previous year. The Raiders came into the game with a recent victory over Bethel. WKU had secured a win over Buffalo with a score of 82-65 on the preceding Saturday.
